Quarter of teachers asked for abortion advice (response)

Sence I started researching abortion I've noticed that alot of the information I find is about surveys. This survey was good, because it was talking about abortion during sex eduation classes. I think talking about abortion in sex education classes might help a little bit because they have to think about whats going to happen to thier own baby. What if their parents had done that to them? They might start thinking more that they don't want to do that to a baby, that could be a perfectly normal baby, but they arn't capiable of taken care of it because they are so young. I think teaching kids about abortion would slow down the teen pregnancy because they would know a little about it before they started actually getting into intercorse and then at that point they hopfully wouldnt play around with it too much and would use some kind of birth control method.

Quarter of teachers asked for abortion advice (Notes)

More then 2/3 now believe that information about abortion should be included in sex education classes.

Britain currently has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in western Europe and teachers claim better classes before puberty could slow down or stop the trend.

They polled more than 800 people working in schools, and there results were 67% thought abortion advice should be featured in there sex education classes.

8 out of ten said discussing the topic could offend parents.

42% believed it might offend the students.

24% of teachers said that they have been asked for advice about abortions.

42% of staff blamed the breakdown of social values.

Almost 1 in 5 said it was because of the sexualisation of young people and children.

Only 16% blamed sex education.

Last week showed that 42 girls in every 1,000 of 18 and younger became pregnant in England and Wales in the 12 months to September 2007.
